Career Change Resume Template

The Pivot template is for people whose job titles undersell what they can actually do - career changers, returners, and anyone moving between industries. Skills and relevant work come before employment history, so a reader meets your capability before they meet a title from the field you're leaving.

Who this template is for

Not a functional resume

This is the important distinction. Functional resumes hide dates and group achievements by theme; recruiters distrust them precisely because they conceal chronology, and many parsers cannot attribute those achievements to any employer at all. Here the full history is present and dated - only the reading order changes.

Capability first

A skills block and a 'relevant work' section sit above employment, so transferable evidence is what a reviewer sees first. The employment section that follows is complete, which is what keeps the document credible.

How to make it yours

Translate your achievements into the vocabulary of the field you're entering rather than the one you're leaving, and use the summary to state the pivot plainly. An unexplained change reads as a gap; a stated one reads as a decision.
