Federal Resume Template for Government Applications

The Federal template is deliberately the plainest in the set. Government and defense portals - and the older enterprise systems built on Taleo or iCIMS - reward complete, explicitly labelled information over visual polish, and their parsers are the least forgiving you will meet. This template is written for them.

Who this template is for

One fact per line

Email, phone, location and each link sit on their own labelled line rather than being joined by separators. Combining fields onto one line is the single most common cause of a parser splitting your phone number into your address, and this template simply never does it.

Nothing is implied by layout

Dates are labelled 'Dates:' rather than being right-aligned, degrees are labelled 'Degree:', and locations are labelled too. A parser that discards positioning entirely - which the oldest ones effectively do - still recovers a complete, correctly attributed record.

How to make it yours

Federal applications expect more detail than private-sector ones: include months in your dates, and do not trim bullets for length the way you would elsewhere. Mirror the posting's own vocabulary, because these systems often score on literal keyword presence.
